Skylar Spencer, 6-7 JR PF Los Angeles (Calif.) Price, is one of the top post prospects in the west for 2012. Spencer is very long, with above average athleticism, and he's a good rebounder and defender. His offensive game is still coming, but he has improved his ability to score in the paint in the last year.

I spoke with Spencer recently and asked about the schools that he has been hearing from so far.

"UCLA, USC, Gonzaga, Colorado, Iowa, Marquette, UNLV and Florida State have been the main ones," said Spencer.

When asked which schools have offered, Spencer replied, "USC, Gonzaga, Colorado and UNLV."

I asked Spencer if any schools lead for him at this time.

"No, I don't have a favorite," said Spencer. "I'm open to everyone right now."

Spencer talked a little about the issues he will consider when picking a school.

"The education, how the team fits me and the location," said Spencer.

I asked Spencer if he would prefer to remain in the west.

"Yeah, I might want to stay on the West Coast, but I'm not sure yet," said Spencer.

When asked if he has a feel for which schools have been recruiting him the hardest, Spencer said, "Marquette, Iowa, Florida State, USC and UCLA."

Spencer has been to the local schools for unofficial visits and I asked him for his impressions.

"USC was pretty good, I liked the campus and the gym," said Spencer. "UCLA showed me the weight room and I enjoyed it there. I liked them equally."

Spencer has a time frame for when he'd like to make his decision.

"I want to decide in August after the July evaluation period," said Spencer.

Spencer said he has a 3.5 GPA.
