Richard Marcus Johnson, DB, 6-0, 175, Tempe (Ariz.) Marcos De Niza, came out for the UCLA one-day camp and opened some eyes. With a nice, athletic body and good agility, Johnson ran a good 40 and performed well in the agility drills. He said one of the coaches told him he ran in the 4.5 range, which would make it one of the best 40s of the camp (UCLA's Spaulding Field is notoriously slow), and jumped in the 30" range in the vertical. He also performed well at the Nike Camp at Stanford and the ASU camp.

Johnson said that he's starting to get quite a bit of attention, especially since he's a good student. Johnson has a 3.5 GPA and scored 1000 on the SAT, which has even garnered him attention form Ivy League schools. "My favorite schools are UCLA, Stanford, Arizona State, Ohio State, San Diego State, Colorado State and Colorado. But I don't have any offers yet. Because of how I did at the camps I'm starting to get questionnaires and request for film. I just got requests from UCLA, Cal and Notre Dame."

Johnson, who has yet to turn 17, is also a baseball player, and would like to play both sports in college. "Some of the Pac-10 and Big-10 schools I've talked to may allow me an opportunity to play baseball during the football off-season, and that would be great."

But he definitely wants to earn a football scholarship, and he said that, things could happen fast if the situation were right. He said, "If I was offered a scholarship early I would consider making an early commitment."
