Arron Afflalo, the #1 prospect among West Coast shooting guards in the class of 2004, gives us an update on his recruitment, as well as his thoughts on a new coach in Westwood...

Arron Afflalo, 6-4 JR SG Compton (Calif.) Centennial, has been rumored to be leaning towards UCLA. We spoke with Afflalo last night to get an update on his recruitment, as well as his reaction to the hiring of Ben Howland at UCLA.

"I've had a couple people calling me -- telling me that the new staff is very interested in me coming to UCLA." said Afflalo. "I only saw Pittsburgh play once this year, but he seemed to do a pretty good job with them. He's a good coach -- a hard worker. UCLA getting him is definitely a positive."

We asked Afflalo about the schools he's considering at this point. "UCLA, DePaul, Oregon, Stanford, Kansas and a few others," said Afflalo.

When we questioned him about how he'll make his decision, Afflalo replied, "My relationship with the coaches, after I make my visits, will be important. And how I fit in -- this will be the place I'll be living, so I want to be comfortable with it. It'd be nice to stay close, but it's not going to be the main priority."

Afflalo told us that he's scored 1030 on the SAT and his GPA is around 3.5
