UCLA Jumps In for JC O-Lineman

The hope for Cerritos OT Fou Fonoti (6-5, 295) would be able to finish up his AA degree and still sign his letter-of-intent during the mid-year signing period. However, his plans hit a bit of a snag when he learned he still had a math class to take and now he's looking at signing in February and that will allow him visit the Pac 10 school who recently offered...

"I was hoping to be able to be a mid-year guy, but I found out I have to take a math class so that's what I'm looking to get done," Fonoti told JCFootball.com. "Because I can't enroll early or at least because I probably won't be able to do that I'll visit UCLA on January 14th."

The Bruins offered late in the week and that's what got Fonoti thinking about the Bruins and possibly visiting.

"Right now, my top three are Washington State, Arizona and Michigan State," Fonoti noted. "UCLA is a school of interest now and I'll check them out when I visit and see what they have to offer."

Because he has already visited his top three, Fonoti also gave JCFootball.com his thoughts on each and why they lead for his commitment...

On Washington State: "My visit was real nice when I went up there. The team is on the rise and when I talked to coaches they said they want the top guys to come in and play and that I was one of those guys. I really enjoyed the whole atmosphere there."

On Arizona: "The offensive line coach there (Bill Bedenbaugh), he's a no-nonsense guy and I really bonded well with the guys that are there. They have a lot of guys graduating and need players to come in and compete for playing time. I really liked my time there a lot."

On Michigan State: "Their coaching staff has done a really great job and I liked my visit there a lot. I really like their attitude out there and when the season started no one thought they were do anything and those coaches got them to a big bowl game and I love the program and atmosphere there too."

Wherever Fonoti ends up he will have three years to play two the moment he arrives.
