Lucien Hitting the Stretch Run

Encino (Calif.) Crespi receiver Devin Lucien will be seeing UCLA coaches on two occasions this week...

Encino (Calif.) Crespi receiver Devin Lucien is heading down the stretch in his recruitment, with one final official visit left, to Miami, this coming weekend.

That will conclude a three weekend stretch of official visits, with Colorado getting his most recent trip.

"I loved Colorado," said Lucien. "They want me to play right now. They want me to have an immediate impact."

Lucien was hosted by another California native while on his visit.

"My host was Paul Richardson," said Lucien. "He showed me around everywhere. And I met with Coach (Bobby) Kennedy, Coach (Jon) Embree and Coach (Eric) Bieniemy. Colorado has one of the best coaching staffs I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. They treated me really good. The people were great up there. They're trying to build the program up to where they need to be. Two of their coaches played for a national championship so they know what it takes to win."

Now Lucien will host some in-home visits before going to Miami, and Utah will make a last-ditch effort, having offered this week.

"Coach (Norm) Chow is coming on Tuesday, and then Coach Kennedy and Coach Bieniemy are coming this week. (Miami) Coach (George) McDonald and Coach (Brennan) Carroll are coming this week and already Coach Golden has come out. Also Coach (Rick) Neuheisel is coming home for a visit, and me and my mom are going to UCLA to meet the new offensive coordinator, coach Mike Johnson on Wednesday. I'm not sure which day Coach Neuheisel is coming. And then Arizona State is coming with Coach (Noel) Mazzone and Coach (Steve) Broussard. I have a lot of visits coming in."

Lucien said he's down to five schools.

"I'm still considering, Arizona State, UCLA, Miami, Colorado and Utah," said Lucien. "I'll announce on Signing Day. I have 19 offers and had to narrow it down to five. I'm taking as much time as I can because it's kind of a must to do. I'm blessed to have this choices. I just honestly have no idea where I'm going to go. No idea at all."

Lucien said whatever he chooses to do, he has the support of his family.

"I am going to go wherever the best school for me is," said Lucien. "I know my mom wants me somewhere close. Me and my mom are like Kool-Aid and Water. We are really close. I know I have the support of my dad fully. No matter where I go my family will support me. But my mom wants me close."

Lucien admitted that the process is wearing on him.

"I'm so ready to make a decision and announce and just sign," said Lucien. "I had to deactivate my Facebook because fans would put something on there and start fighting with each other. They'd just post and start cussing each other out about why their school was the best and why the other school sucked. My mom told me to deactivate so I didn't have to worry about that. I'll probably keep it off until after Signing Day for a while. It's crazy how people have been."
