Already Down to Two?

Rodney Van, the very swift defensive back from Long Beach (Calif.) Poly, was one of the best prospects at the recent Los Angeles Nike Camp. He's talking like he already has narrowed his recruiting list down to two schools...

Rodney Van, 6-1, 175, Long Beach (Calif.) Poly, might have come just 40 yards away from racking up another impressive honor on his football resume. He didn't test at the SoCal Nike camp, and the lack of a 40 time might have cost him the camp MVP title.

"I liked it," Van told TheInsiders when asked about the camp experience and also getting a chance to play cornerback. "That's where I feel most comfortable. I usually play safety, but I feel more comfortable at DB. I came late so I didn't get to test, or they told me I would have gotten camp MVP. If I would have run a 40, they said I was camp MVP."

The competition was nothing Van hadn't already seen before. "It was pretty much what I thought it was going to be," he said. "I saw some receivers that could be at the elite level. I liked the atmosphere out here and the teachers and coaches."

The Jackrabbit doesn't have any current, scholarship offers, but in listening to Van he doesn't sound concerned. "Two schools are really close - Notre Dame and UCLA, but they haven't solidified their offers yet," he said.

"I'd take those two trips in a minute. I want to see those schools and make my decision between those two. Those two are the ones I'm pretty much stuck on. Now it just depends on the trips and when I take them."

Rodney also mentioned Oregon and Texas as two schools that have also been showing him a lot of interest.
