The Bruins have a dozen verbal commitments and are still in the mix for a few more Scout 300 prospects, while waiting for one verbal to firm up a soft commit.
Then last night word broke that Claremont (Calif.) defensive tackle Brandon Tuliaupupu had committed to the Bruins.
All three prospects snuck into Westwood over the weekend for an official visit. For Orloff and Tuliaupupu, they decommitted from Iowa and Washington State respectively while Oliver jumped at the UCLA offer after being a commit to Sacramento State.
The player most were expecting to be in Westwood over the weekend was Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman defensive lineman Jalen Grimble. The five-star, committed to USC, may be looking elsewhere and will be deciding between four yet-to-be-named schools on Wednesday. UCLA is expected to be in the mix.
The biggest fish left for UCLA is St. Augustine (Fla.) Menendez linebacker Tony Steward. While the Army All-American is expected to ultimately choose between Clemson and Florida State, there is still talk that UCLA is in the mix. Steward visited UCLA officially the weekend of the USC game.
Encino (Calif.) Crespi receiver Devin Lucien will announce on Wednesday at 3 p.m. and the four-star has the Bruins high on his list, and will choose from UCLA, Utah, Arizona State, Colorado and Miami.
Washington (D.C.) St. John's defensive tackle Kevin McReynolds will announce on Wednesday between Kansas State, Syracuse, Mississippi State and UCLA, and will do so during the USA vs. The World Game. He too tripped to Westwood in December.
Lakewood offensive tackle Torian White committed to UCLA in June, but he's visited Arizona, Oregon State and USC (last weekend) and will announce tomorrow on FoxSportsWest between the Bruins and USC. There has been much speculation that he'll switch to USC, but the word we've been getting of late is that UCLA will hold on to him.
Westlake Village Oaks Christian receiver Blair Holliday will announce on Tuesday his final decision between Duke, where he's been committed to for some time, and UCLA. The word we're getting is that he'll stick with the Blue Devils.
There could be other Signing Day surprises; there always are (see Shirley, Josh). With Oliver, Orloff and Tuliaupupu all popping in the last couple of days, there is still the likelihood more could happen.
