This would normally present quite a few challenging decisions for a young man like Olson, but Olson has even a few more decisions to make beyond those of any high school quarterback in his position.
Olson is Mormon, which throws a few more factors and decisions into his thought processes over the next year or so. Because of his faith, many have already tabbed him for going to BYU, but Olson says that's premature. "I'm really wide open," he said. "It's going to be totally up to me and I'm not getting any pressure to go to BYU." Olson said he's considering "BYU, UCLA, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and many more."
Does he think he'll get pressure to go to BYU? "Not really. My parents and family are really good about it. I have some connections to BYU, and I've always thought about the school. But there are a lot of things I'm going to think about when it comes to picking a college."
Among those things Olson said is the factor of staying close to home. "Staying close to home would be nice," he said. "It would be great to play in front of your family and friends. I have to look into everything before I make a decision."
Another decision will be whether Olson wants to take his Mormon mission straight out of high school (he can, since he'll be 19 soon after his high school graduation), or postpone it. "I haven't decided yet what I'm going to do. There are many things that will affect that decision and I just don't know about many of them yet."
