Things Picking up for Gilmore

Lakewood (Calif.) receiver Malik Gilmore has picked up a host of offers in the first wave of what will likely be many for the Scout Watch Lister for 2012.

"I've gotten offers from Washington, Utah, San Diego State, Duke, Michigan and Notre Dame," said Gilmore. "It was crazy for them to be my first offer."

Several other schools have been showing interest too.

"I've been talking to Cal for a while and coaches from Oregon, and I've gotten a lot of mail from USC and UCLA," said Gilmore. "I talked with Coach (Mike) Johnson from UCLA for a little bit. And Arkansas and LSU have been sending me stuff."

Gilmore is in no rush to make a decision.

"I don't even know what I'm going to do, time wise," said Gilmore. "If the right one comes in, and I narrow it down, I really don't even know if I'm ready to decide. I don't have a real favorite right now."

Several of his teammates signed with schools the past two years, and each are offering advice while pulling for their respective schools.

"Rahim (Cassell) is all about Oregon and Todd (Barr) is talking to me about Cal and then Torian (White) about UCLA and Justin (Utupo) about Notre Dame," said Gilmore. "They all tell me how hectic it is too, so enjoy it while you can."

Gilmore shined on the camp circuit last year and is hoping to do the same this year.

"I'm going out to the 7on7 in Vegas, and I can't wait for that and should do pretty good," said Gilmore. "And I'm planning on the Nike Camp at USC. Then I'll be going to Cal's Junior Day and maybe work something out for Notre Dame's Junior Day."

Academically, Gilmore has a 3.3 and will take the SAT next month

As a junior, he caught 28 passes for 463 yards and six touchdowns.

Brandon is in his seventh year with Scout.com, currently as the West Regional Manager. Prior to joining the Scout Recruiting Team, he was a team recruiting writer.  He's been covering recruiting for the Scout Network since 2003.
