Powell helped lead the Gaels to the state title for the second straight year, rushing for nearly 1,800 yards and 18 touchdowns and earning all-state honors.
Now he's waiting for his first offer.
"I don't have any offers but I'm getting a lot of handwritten letters from Arizona, Nebraska and UCLA," said Powell. "As far as I know, running back is what everyone is recruiting me as. I start at cornerback and it doesn't really matter to me where I play, but I prefer running back."
Arizona has been on Powell the most, and he's drawing comparisons to a former Gael back now with the Wildcats.
"I guess they think I'm a lot like Keola Antolin and with how he's done there, they're opening their eyes up to Gorman," said Powell.
Powell is planning to hit up several camps this spring and summer, and is hoping some offers come in before hand.
"We're going to a camp at Nebraska and Arkansas with our team and them I'm going to the Gridiron Football Academy camp, the UCLA camp and the Badger 7on7," said Powell.
Academically, Powell has a 3.1 GPA and will take the SAT in March.
