"I had the one offer from Washington, they saw me when I was a sophomore when they were recruiting Jesse (Callier) and they came away impressed and so they offered me last year," said Ruffin. "But as my highlight tape got out, I got a lot of attention doing what I do."
"It's been crazy, I never thought I'd be recruited like this," said Ruffin. "I'm just doing my homework on schools. I haven't went on any visits and only talked to a few coaches, a few phone calls, because my focus is on the SAT. So I haven't really thought about my favorite schools."
Ruffin did acknowledge that Boise State, Oregon and USC were standing out for him and the Trojans were his childhood favorite.
"The USC Trojans, that was my team growing up," said Ruffin. "It's different now that I'm being recruited by them, but all of my favorite players were at USC and I've always been a die-hard Trojan fan."
Ruffin said he anticipated a UCLA offer this past week and it too came through.
"I had been talking with them so I had a feeling they would be offering," said Ruffin.
Ruffin has played both receiver and linebacker, and said defense is where he sees his future.
"I get most of my attention on the defensive side of the ball," said Ruffin. "I have more plays on offense on my film, but I'm getting more heavily recruited on defense. Whatever gets me on the field, I like football in general, whether I'm playing offense or defense, so I don't really care."
Ruffin is planning on going to USC's Junior Day this weekend and will camp at the Nike Camp and the Badger/New Level 7on7.
Academically, he's got a 2.4 and will take the SAT in March.
"My focus right now is on getting my grades up and prepping for the SAT," said Ruffin.
