Everett (Wash.) Mariner running back Keivarae Russell is quickly becoming one of the most sought after backs on the west coast. The junior received an offer from UCLA Thursday, his eighth overall.
"Like I have said before, it is an honor each and every time one of these great programs offers you," said Russell. "UCLA is the same, it feels great."
"It feels good, I have worked really hard and I feel like it is paying off," said Russell. "I think my 3.9 GPA has helped me with some of these schools."
Russell is very interested in the Bruins and talked about his impressions of the program.
"I know UCLA has been down a bit over the last couple of years," said Russell. "But really I just think they haven't had a quarterback. It's a good academic school and a really good campus."
Russell is headed to Cal and Stanford for unofficial visits this weekend, but plans on staying focused throughout the recruiting process.
"I just want to keep working and keep showing people what I can do," said Russell. "I want to be a top ten back by the end of the season."
