Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey receiver Jaydon Mickens committed to USC last fall, but the 5-11, 180-pounder is still keeping some options open.

That included an unofficial visit to California last weekend, when he took in the Bears' Junior Day.

"It went real great and it was beautiful up there," said Mickens. "They haven't offered, but I'm hearing they're going to get to it. They're recruiting me mostly as an athlete."

Mickens was there with several other Southern California prospects.

"I was with Jordan Payton, Bryce Treggs, Jeremiah Allison and Jordan Simmons, just checking everything out," said Mickens.

In addition, Mickens is hearing from Arizona State, Washington and UCLA.

"Coach (Mike) Johnson is trying to get me up to UCLA for an unofficial visit and I'm going to go up there during spring football," said Mickens. "And my teammates Matthew Lyons and Marvin Hall (who signed with Washington), are always throwing up the ‘Dub' to me to get me up there."

Mickens said he's still committed to the Trojans.

"I'm still a commit to USC, but my options are open right now," said Mickens. "I want to see what else is out there."

Mickens said most schools are recruiting him as an athlete, with receiver his likely destination, but has heard cornerback or safety could be a position for him.

"I have played just a little corner and safety, so I'm still a receiver," said Mickens.

Academically, Mickens has a 3.2 GPA.
