Mission Viejo (Calif.) offensive lineman Austin Maass is one of a handful of stellar linemen for the Diablos.

The 6-5, 280-pound Maass, has the versatility that college coaches like, able to play guard and tackle.

While Maass is waiting for his first offer, numerous Pac-12 schools are showing interest.

"I'm hearing from USC, UCLA, Colorado, Oregon State and Washington," said Maass. "I'd say that I like USC, because my dad went there, UCLA and San Diego State are my top schools."

Maass has been to USC's Junior Day, and plans to unofficially visit both of the Los Angeles schools in the spring.

"I've talked with Coach (Ed) Orgeron at USC and with Angus McClure at UCLA, about coming during spring football," said Maass.

Maass said he thought San Diego State could be the closest to offering him.

No matter when the offers come in, Maass doesn't anticipate a hasty recruitment.

"I want to take as much time as I can and take a couple of trips," said Maass.

Maass plans to camp at the Los Angeles Nike Camp next month and may camp at USC and UCLA as well as San Diego State.

Academically, he has a 3.0 and will take the SAT this spring.
