At 5'11 and 175 pounds, wide receiver Gabriel Marks doesn't look like the most imposing player on the field, but when all is said and done, he's the one usually standing in the endzone with the ball in his hands.
Marks helped lead his B2G team to its second straight Badger 7v7 Championship in Vegas over the weekend by knocking off the star studded 1925 All-Stars in the championship game. It was Marks who caught a quick touchdown strike following a possession change that helped erase an early 6-0 deficit.
It was something that Marks had been doing throughout the tournament. He has a knack for finding the open spots in a zone and beating press coverage deep. He's the type of player who doesn't seem to be the fastest guy on the field, but it always behind his man when the ball is thrown.
Marks struggled on Saturday with his consistency, as did his B2G team as they limped to a 1-3 record during pool play on Saturday, but as Marks began to heat up, so did B2G as they swept through the playoffs and claimed a second straight title in Vegas.
Marks' key qualities are his route running and his feel for beating coverage. He's instinctive in finding the hole in the zone, and he had the trust of quarterbacks who looked to him as their No. 1 target throughout the tournament.
