Some colleges may be shying away from Desmon Peoples because he's only 5-foot-7, however UCLA Bruins fans can attest that they'd certainly take Maurice Jones-Drew back on any Saturday as part of their offense and apparently that's what Head Coach Rick Neuheisel was thinking of when he offered the Archbishop Wood standout on Wednesday.
"UCLA offered Des today," Darrien Peoples said. "Coach Neuheisel basically said that he couldn't care less how tall he is and loves the way he plays out there. He had a lot of complimentary things to say about Des.
As a junior, Peoples played in 11 games through some nasty injuries, carrying the ball 165 times for 1,349 yards and 23 touchdowns. He also had 11 catches for 179 yards and a touchdown and a 95-yard kickoff return for a score. He was named first-team All-State by the Associated Press and Pennsylvania Football News and was also the Philadelphia Catholic League MVP for the Class AAA Division. He says he can bench 280-pounds, squat 450, claims a 36-inch vertical jump and ran a 3.9 short shuttle at the Shuman Combine.
