Considered by many to be the best quarterback in California this year, Rocky Hinds, 6-4, 210, Playa Del Rey (Calif.) St. Bernard's, is already becoming a favorite by the local schools and by a couple of Big 12 rivals.
His current favorites are UCLA, USC,
His coach also has heard from Texas A&M and Michigan.
Locally, Hinds is strongly looking at UCLA and USC, and had plenty of good things to say about the Bruins. "Coach Johnson is recruiting me, and is recruiting me the hardest of all coaches. He is a real cool guy and I am getting a lot of handwritten letters from Coach Axman. I am planning to take an unofficial visit this week up to UCLA while they are in practice."
Hinds had a solid showing at the Nike Camp, running a 4.46 40 time, even with a hamstring he tore during the testing. "I tore it at the camp when I tested, but still did pretty good."
Hinds is in no hurry to make a decision on his college choice, wanting to take all of his visits. There also is no pressure coming from family to stay home. "My family is letting me make my decision, whatever is best for me."
He will be plenty busy this summer, participating in the Elite 11 QB Camp, the UCLA One Day Camp, the USC Camp and the Notre Dame Camp all part of his plans.
Hinds holds a 2.9 GPA and will take his SAT on May 3rd.
