2013 Intro: Dakarai Allen

He isn't well known yet on the recruiting circuit, but Dakarai Allen, the 6-4 wing from Sacramento has a chance to be a big-time prospect in the 2013 class...

Dakarai Allen, 6-4 JR SG Sacramento (Calif ) Sheldon, hasn't received a lot of recruiting attention to date, but that figures to change when college coaches get a chance to see him in July. Allen didn't get a lot of touches on his high school team this past year, as seniors Darius Nelson and Ramon Eaton took the majority of the shots.

Allen, though, is a superior prospect than either one of his more highly touted teammates. He's got a terrific frame, with length and quickness, to go with very good ball skills and an excellent feel for the game. He has a chance to be one of the elite players in the west for 2013.

I spoke with Allen and asked him about the schools that have been recruiting him so far.

"I've received mail from Stanford, USC, UCLA and Boise State, among others," said Allen. "I've taken unofficial visits so far to Cal Poly and Pepperdine."

I asked Allen what he is looking for in a school.

"I want to major in sports management or communications, so that will be important," said Allen. "I'd like to stay on the West Coast if possible. Early playing time isn't important. I just want to go somewhere where we can win big and have a chance to go to the Final Four."

I asked Allen if there are any schools that he knows he would like to visit officially.

"I'd like to visit Pepperdine, UCLA, USC and Arizona," said Allen.

Allen doesn't have a specific time frame in mind for picking a school.

"I'd just like to get it done sometime before my senior year," said Allen.

Allen said he has a 3 2 GPA.
