Buckner didn't grow up a fan of any football program and considers himself wide open.
"I don't really have a favorite team," said Buckner. "I grew up more of a basketball fan then switched to football as I got older."
Buckner is a force for Punahou, regularly harassing opposing quarterbacks.
"I think that my best attribute is my quickness and coordination for my size," said Buckner.
Buckner isn't ready to name a favorite or even trim his list, the junior plans on taking all the time the NCAA allows to make his decision.
"Right now everybody is even," said Buckner. "I don't have a leader."
"I think that I like the teams the most that are really honest with me. The ones that just tell you how it is and are real clear about things," said Buckner. "I plan on waiting to announce my decision all the up to signing day."
Buckner has a few teammates that will likely end up playing in the Pac-12 in Steven Lakalaka and Luke Kaumatule. The 6'7", 235-pound prospect talked about the possibility of them playing together in college.
"It would be nice to play together," said Buckner. "But I am looking to go where I fit in and they are looking to see where they fit in, if that happens to be the same place then that would be cool."
Buckner plans on attending some local camps in Hawaii over the summer and taking the SAT, but doesn't have any other travel plans to date.
"I have a 3.0 GPA and Iam taking the SAT on June 4th," said Buckner.
