Arroyo Grande (Calif.) quarterback Brent Vanderveen
holds three offers, with two coming from the South and one from the Pac-12.
"Oregon State offered and Arkansas and Arkansas State offered," said Vanderveen. "I don't really have any ties at all to Arkansas, so those came out of the blue."
But Vanderveen is keenly aware of what Bobby Petrino's offenses have done, especially with Ryan Mallett.
"I've always been impressed with his pro-style offense," said Vanderveen.
Oregon State offered last week.
"Coach Langsdorf came by to watch me workout," said Vanderveen.
Vanderveen said that he's also hearing from USC, Cal, Washington, UCLA and San Diego State, with several of those schools planning to come watch him throw, or already having been by the school.
"I'm probably going to hit a couple of the camps this summer, maybe the ones in state," said Vanderveen. "I'm ok with leaving for college though."
Vanderveen is one of three Arroyo Grande prospects with BCS offers, including safety Seth Jacobs and tackle Garrett Weinreich.
"We have to work a little harder being up here in Arroyo Grande," said Vanderveen of his central coast home.
Cal, Oregon State, Northwestern, Utah, Utah State, Stanford, Harvard, Colorado, Arkansas, Fresno State and Washington were also by earlier in the spring.
Academically, Vanderveen has a 4.0 and scored a 1300 on the SAT.
Vanderveen has 103-for-198 for 1,402 yards with 11 touchdown passes and five interceptions and ran for 581 yards and six touchdowns and led Arroyo Grande to the 2010 CIF-SS Northern Division Semifinals.
