Perez Planning to Camp at UCLA

Sacramento (Calif.) Sheldon defensive end Antonio Perez (6-3, 220), is starting to get his share of attention.

Cal Poly offered on Wednesday and Nevada did on Tuesday, joining an offer he previously received from Idaho.

"It was nice to get the first offers," said Perez. "Schools like me as their rush defensive end, as a hybrid guy who can drop back into some linebacker."

Perez had a host of schools come by during the evaluation period and he's interested in numerous Western schools.

"The schools that seem to be the most interested in offering next are Fresno State, Arizona State and Hawaii and I'm hearing from Arizona, Washington State, UCLA and Arizona State. UCLA came to watch one of my workouts and asked me to come down to their camp. Coach (Jody) Sears from Washington State was the first coach to come and I've already been in touch with them for a while."

The Cougs have offered his teammate Nate Iese and signed another teammate, Mansel Simmons, in February.

A number of other schools have Perez's interest.

"Definitely Boise State, they came to my school, Washington, they also came, San Diego State too and Hawaii was always a school that if they offered, I'd commit."

Perez is planning a busy camp circuit.

"I went to the Stanford Nike Camp and on June 5th I'm going to Fresno State's camp, then I'm going to Washington State and Idaho's camp and to UCLA's camp," said Perez. "And I'll be at Nevada's Senior Day in July."

Perez said he doesn't want to make an early decision.

"I want to take as many visits as possible," said Perez.

Academically, he has a 3.0 and scored a 1610 on the SAT.
