Oregon Nike Recruiting Notes
Many of the West's top prospects were at the Oregon Nike Football Training Camp on Sunday and most remain uncommitted.
Orange (Calif.) Lutheran 4-star tight end Christo Kourtzidis was a surprise
attendee. Kourtzidis plans on visiting Florida State and Nebraska over the next
couple weekends. Kourtzidis is hoping to pick up an offer from Oregon, if he
isn't offered by the Ducks I could see him committing elsewhere sooner rather
than later. Florida State seems to be the leader right now.
Beaverton (Ore.) Aloha 2013 offensive tackle Brayden Kearsley committed to BYU
on Friday during a visit to Provo.
Upland (Calif.) receiver Kenny Lawler has opened up his recruitment. The junior
is still committed to ASU but hasn't been hearing from the Sun Devils as much as
he would like and is considering other options. UCLA and USC have shown
interest, he plans on camping at Nebraska, UCLA and USC.
Kent (Wash.) Kentridge tight end Caleb Smith picked up an offer from the
hometown Huskies this past week. The junior says that Washington has been
pressing him hard to make a commitment. With the threat that his offer may be
taken by someone else who commits. Smith still plans on waiting a while before
he makes any decisions.
Corvallis (Ore.) lineman Isaac Seumalo showed up and dominated both sides of the
ball. The junior will camp at California, Oregon State and UCLA this summer.
Washington State appears to be a heavy leader for Lakewood (Wash.) Lakes
prospect Ma'ne Manaea. Word is any school that offers him at this point will
have a hard time overtaking the Cougars.
Tacoma (Wash.) Tacoma Baptist offensive tackle Walker Williams plans on visiting
Colorado and UCLA over the next two weekends.
Syracuse (Utah) defensive end Hunter Dimick picked up an offer from BYU after
their camp Friday afternoon. Dimick flew straight to Oregon and visited Oregon
State before participating in the NFTC this afternoon.
Chandler (Ariz.) defensive end Kisima Jagne says he is hearing from the entire
Pac-12 and hasn't narrowed his list down at this point.
Quarterback MVP Lake Oswego (Ore.) junior Alex Matthews has seen recruiting heat
up as of late. He is hearing from California, Duke, Utah and Washington State.
Colorado has also resumed recruiting him as they plan on taking two
Richland (Wash.) linebacker Sawyer Powell exploded onto the scene this weekend,
recording a top 10 national SPARQ score. Powell has been mainly hearing from
Oregon State, but has also spoken with BYU, Utah, and Missouri.
Oregon State remains the only offer for Bethel (Wash.) athlete David Fontenette.
However, he is hearing from California, Washington and Washington State.
