Morin Updates His Recruitment

The Temecula (Calif.) Chaparral quarterback Matt Morin, talks about where he is in his recruitment, including his status with UCLA and what his ideal time frame is...

Temecula (Calif.) Chaparral quarterback Matt Morin (6-2, 205) continues to play the waiting game.

A week after he nearly committed to Arizona State, and held off after UCLA told him to hang tight, Morin remains uncommitted.

"I haven't heard from UCLA this week," said Morin. "But I definitely love UCLA. Coach (Rick) Neuheisel said that I'll know something from them sometime in this next month. Once you call and tell him you're going to commit somewhere else, and he says hold on and wants you to come by, that means something. So we'll see what happens."

Morin is keeping busy with a number of camps, as he's been one of the most active participants on the camp circuit out West.

He was the QB MVP of the Los Angeles NFTC and also attended the Stanford Elite 11 and NFTC and Washington NFTC last weekend. This weekend, he's on the UCLA campus for the B2G Elite Camp and next weekend he'll be in Dallas for the New Level National 7on7 Tournament.

"I love football," said Morin. "I'll do these year in and year out, and do my practices and games too, because I love football."

So Morin isn't down despite the delay in his recruitment.

"I mean, I'd like to decide before my season, but we'll see what happens with everything," said Morin. "We're in wait and see mode."

Morin boasts offers from Arizona State, who got a quarterback commitment earlier this week, San Diego State and Colorado State. SMU is also recruiting him and he may visit the Mustangs unofficially next weekend when in Dallas.

Last fall, Morin threw for 1,719 yards and 12 touchdowns to five interceptions and rushed for 292 yards and three touchdowns.
