Lavine Excited About Offer

Zach Lavine, 6-1 JR PG Bothell (Wash.) High, is the top point guard in the west for 2013 and one of the elite scorers in the class as well.

Lavine recently attended the UCLA Advanced Skills Camp and I spoke with him about his experience at the camp.

"It was really good," said Lavine. "I got to tour the campus after the camp and then Coach Howland brought me into his office and offered me a scholarship. I was really happy and called my Dad right after. He thought it was great and said that was my opportunity if I want to go there, but he's not going to push me. I'm going to wait to decide, but I like that school a lot."

I asked Lavine if he has any other unofficial visits in mind.

"I've been to Washington State and I like them a lot," said Lavine. "I've been to Washington State, but may go back for another visit. I also like Gonzaga and Washington. I may go to Gonzaga on a visit this summer and I've already been to UW. Also, Texas and Arizona just started calling me recently and they said they would be out to see me in July."

Lavine said a number of schools have extended scholarship offers.

"UCLA, Oregon State, Texas, Washington, Gonzaga, Washington State, Cal and Baylor have offered," said Lavine.

I asked Lavine if he has a time frame in mind for choosing a school.

"I haven't really thought about it too much yet," said Lavine. "I can't take any official visits until my senior year. I've been thinking I want to decide before my senior season, but I'm not sure when I will do it."
