The Morton Twins

Dion and Damon Morton from Riverside North are twin athletes who play multiple positions. Both are getting strong recruiting attention and they talk about their recruiting situations and the potential for a twin package deal...

Dion Morton, 5-10, 155, QB/CB, and twin brother Damon Morton, 6-0, 165, WR/CB, Riverside (Calif.) North, are seeing more and more colleges showing them interest. "We're getting a lot of letters and its pretty cool," said Dion.

Playing both quarterback and cornerback for North, Dion has aspirations of playing quarterback at the next level, but realizes that defensive back is his most likely destination. "I'd love for a school to recruit me to play QB, but I'll probably play DB." If a smaller school recruited him to play quarterback, as opposed to several bigger schools recruiting him as defensive back, it might be a tough decision for him. "Like I said, I prefer to play QB, but that won't be the only factor. I have to make a good decision, based on academics, location and the program."

Currently, Dion's top schools are UCLA, USC, Washington, Ohio State, Tennessee and Colorado. Damon's top schools include Washington, Michigan, Ohio State, Colorado, USC and UCLA.

"Our mom prefers for us to stay together and will probably will, but if we see good opportunities elsewhere, we would have to do that. We'd like to stay on the West Coast, though, and USC and UCLA look good."

Damon has been intrigued by Ohio State for some time. He said, "They sent me my first letter, and their letters are not just about the school and the program, but are inspirational, how to be a better player and person, and how to improve myself. And winning the national championship helps too," Damon said.

Both Mortons indicated that they intend to take all their visits and wait to decide on a school.

Both recently participated in the Los Angeles Nike Camp, though neither was totally thrilled by the experience. "I did alright. My forty time wasn't that great," said Dion. Damon echoed that: "I didn't run that well either, but it was cool." They will attend the Beyond 2000 Camp in Thousand Oaks this summer as well.

Both Dion and Damon have a 3.5 GPA and will take the SAT's this summer.
