Dominic Artis, 5-11 SR PG Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep, is the top point guard in the west for 2012 and one of the more improved players in the class over the past year. After a terrific spring, Artis continued his stellar play in the early part of the July evaluation period and came up with another solid game on the first day of the Fab 48 in Las Vegas.

We caught up with Artis following the game and asked him if he's still planning on making a verbal commitment after July.

"Yes, I will probably have a press conference," said Artis. "I want to make it a family thing with my parents there."

I asked him if he was planning on announcing in the first week of August.

"Yes, probably during that week," said Artis.

Artis said five schools are on his list.

"UCLA, Cal, Florida State, Oregon and Georgia Tech," said Artis. "UCLA is my leader."

I asked Artis if other schools have attempted to become involved with him after the first part of July.

"Yes, there have been some other schools," said Artis. "But I want to stick with the schools that have been on me."
