Adams Almost Makes the Call

The #17-ranked cornerback in the nation, Oaks Christian's Ishmael Adams, told us he almost made a verbal commitment over the weekend, but then reconsidered...

Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian cornerback Ishmael Adams thought about picking a program this weekend at the 7-on-7 competition in Orlando, Florida, called Gridiron Kings.

But the four-star prospect didn't make a choice and now he has no immediate plans for a decision.

"I'm praying about it and checking out a few more schools," said Adams. "I want to take a few more visits. Hopefully those visits will allow me to make that decision."

Adams said that two schools were standing out from among the rest.

"UCLA and Cal, for the most part, are my top two schools," said Adams. "Those are the two predominant ones and I'm positive that I'll visit those two. I like Colorado, Arizona State and Oregon a lot, too. That's what my top five looks like."

Adams said a couple more schools are still in contention.

"Arizona has been talking to me a lot, and I've been talking a lot with Tennessee," said Adams. "I'm going to check out the Southern teams I have offers from, so before I go back to California, I want to check them out, like East Carolina and Georgia Tech."

Adams said that he planned to visit UCLA and Cal for their fall camps before Oaks starts defense of their CIF-SS title.

"I'm not going to be doing anything better than going out to those practices and getting ready for my season so it will get me ready for when we start," said Adams.

Oaks will take on Washington 3A champs Bellevue in their opener. The Lions will have to take on the Wolverines' vaunted Wing-T.

"I've been doing a lot of 7on7 so it's time for pads," said Adams. "We've been watching a lot of film and we're ready to hit and play them."
