"I went to UCLA on Saturday," said McDaniel. "Both sides of the ball looked good. They offered me as a running back, but Coach (Mike) Johnson told me to watch whichever position I'd like so I watched both the running backs and the linebackers. It was good. I got a good feel for the practice, and I feel like I could make an impression there."
On Sunday, McDaniel headed over to USC for a scrimmage at the Coliseum.
"That was cool because I got to walk on the field at the Coliseum and be a part of the day and the atmosphere," said McDaniel. "They offered me as a linebacker so I watched the linebackers the majority of the day. In their scrimmage, they had a lot of scripted plays and I got to watch what they normally do."
Still, the Bruins and Trojans trail two other Pac-12 schools for the three-star, who's ranked as a middle linebacker by Scout.com.
"In order, my top four is Arizona State, Washington, USC and UCLA," said McDaniel. "I also like Arizona and Boise State and I'm planning to visit Arizona State, Arizona, Boise State and Washington for my officials. I probably won't take an official visit to USC or UCLA but go to some of their home games."
McDaniel doesn't have a time when he wants to decide.
"I want to take all of my officials and get as many as I can in before I choose," said McDaniel.
This week, McDaniel and his North teammates kick in to high gear with two-a-days.
"We open our season with Redondo Union," said McDaniel.
