"I'm taking my first visit this weekend to Arizona State," said Poutasi. "I'm really excited about it. It's going to be fun and a good game. I've been wanting to take my visits."
The four-star said that the trip to Tempe is the only one set in stone right now, but he knows he'll be taking a few more.
Poutasi isn't in a rush to make a choice.
"Hopefully before December I'll have an idea, but right now, I'm still pretty wide open," said Poutasi.
For Poutasi, the way his recruitment blew up still comes as a surprise to him.
A relative unknown during the early part of the winter, only Idaho had offered him, Poutasi was close to giving the Vandals an early commitment.
"I was getting ready to commit to Idaho," said Poutasi. "Then I went to the Badger Linemen Camp (in Las Vegas), and the next thing you know, they start rolling in. I thought I might get a couple more but I never thought I'd get up to 18 offers. If I hadn't went to the camp, who knows what would have happened. But I'm glad I did."
Poutasi said that which position he'll play in college depends on where he ends up.
"Some schools want me as a tackle and some schools want me as a guard," said Poutasi. "Wherever they want to put me, I just want to play so I'm cool with anything."
Poutasi said he's been playing defensive end for Desert Vista, even if it's keeping him from playing his dream position.
"I'd love to play linebacker," said Poutasi. "But my coaches think I'm too big."
Poutasi, who has a 3.2 GPA, took the ACT last weekend.
This week, Desert Pines plays rival Las Vegas HS.
