Neuheisel Video, Practice Notes

The main issue Wednesday remains injuries as UCLA heads to Stanford Saturday...

It was a fairly sharp practice for the offense and Richard Brehaut Wednesday. The quarterback was on target for most of the session.

The environment of practice, however, was a bit tense. The coaches were testier than usual, laying into some players when making the same common mistakes -- like dropping a pass or missing a defensive assignment.

The best sequence for the offense came in the red zone period, when quarterback Kevin Prince connected on four touchdowns in a row, to Joe Fauria over the top down the middle, to Nelson Rosario in the back of the endzone, to Josh Smith who dragged his foot to stay in bounds in the back of the endzone, and then to a slanting Jordon James.

The secondary will definitely have a challenge this weekend against Stanford's passing game, with cornerback Sheldon Price, safeties Dalton Hilliard and Alex Mascarenas not practicing today, and safety Tony Dye still in a red, no-hit jersey. We've heard it's unlikely Price will play this weekend, and that his knee injury could be fairly serious; the word is that Mascarenas has a concussion, which makes him highly unlikely for Saturday at this point, while there is still some hope that Hilliard (shoulder sprain) will be available. Dye, since he practiced, looks likely.

Jamie Graham, the transfer cornerback from Vanderbilt, did practice and is cleared to play.

Rick Neuheisel talked more about the injured in the post-practice video interview.
