Tuesday Report, Neuheisel Video

Jerry Johnson and Jerry Rice Jr. both look pretty good, Kevin Prince has a generally nice day, and Rick Neuheisel talks about Tony Dye's situation...

Overall, it was a decent bounceback practice. There was generally better tempo and more intensity than there was last week, but we're judging on a relative scale.

Kevin Prince looked decent today, completing 5 of 7 in 7 on 7. He did throw an interception, but it was more of a good play by Andrew Abbott to jump the route than a terrible throw. In the two minute offense, Prince threw mostly short gains and the left side of the offensive line didn't look great, repeatedly getting blown back into him. Still, he found enough time to hit Nelson Rosario deep over the middle in front of Abbott for a 25 yard gain to set up a field goal. Tyler Gonzales nailed it from 39 yards.

Brett Hundley looked good during scout periods and scuffled a bit during the 11 on 11 period at the end of practice. He completed 4 of 5 passes, but one of those completions would have resulted in a sack, and another pass was blocked by a defensive lineman. He showed off some nice wheels in the scout period, though, and looks like he's beginning to get a good handle on the offense.

Jerry Rice Jr. saw a lot of time with the first team offense, so we can reasonably expect him to play quite a bit on Saturday. Jerry Johnson looked to be moving pretty well, as he practiced fully. He caught a few passes during team periods, and should be able to play on Saturday.

All things considered, the offense actually looked pretty good despite missing most of its two deep at wide receiver. Josh Smith made a nice catch down the sideline in 11 on 11, and Rosario showed up for that really nice catch over the middle in the two minute offense.

Aside from Alberto Cid, the suspended players all played on scout team, with Randall Carroll playing defensive back and Taylor Embree, Shaquelle Evans, and Ricky Marvray all at wide receiver. Wade Yandall and Greg Capella got the reps with the 1's at guard, and Cid played with the second team, since he's only suspended for half the game on Saturday.

Abbott was in practice in a red jersey, and had another typically effective day, picking off a pass from Kevin Prince in 7 on 7 and also breaking up a few other passes in scout periods.

In field goal periods, Gonzales hit 4 of 5, missing an attempt from about 40. Joe Roberts went 1 of 2, with the miss blocked.

Kip Smith did not dress for practice. Anthony Barr dressed and did some light stuff on the side, but then spent the majority of practice with a big ice pack on his knee. Alex Mascarenas and Chris Ward also did not dress. Anthony Jefferson was again in a red jersey, but did not practice.

Richard Brehaut is no longer on crutches, as he makes his way back from the broken leg.
