Weekend Recap: Week Seven

A look back at how UCLA's top recruiting targets and commits did in their week seven games...

Game of the Week: Los Angeles Loyola def. Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 27-14
2013 Notre Dame prospects Khalfani Muhammed, who has a UCLA offer as a running back, ran for 83 yards on 21 carries and quarterback Kelly Hilinski was 13-for-24 for 165 yards and a touchdown, but three interceptions doomed the Knights against Loyola.  Stanford commit Kodi Whitfield had a touchdown reception and a 70-yard interception return.

Gardena Serra def. La Canada St. Francis, 44-30
Serra, led by UCLA commit Raymond Ford, kept its four-year league unbeaten streak alive. Ford had four tackles, but also contributed on offense, with a touchdown reception for the Cavs.  Junior running back Anterio Bateman, who camped at UCLA, had 176 yards on 16 carries and three touchdowns in the win.

Westlake def. Moorpark, 34-13
Westlake quarterback Justin Moore, a 2013 prospect, was 14-for-18 for 227 yards as the Warriors held off a pesky Musketeer squad.  Moore also rushed for 111 yards on 11 carries.  UCLA commit Dashon Hunt (2013) had 13 carries for 118 yards and a touchdown and recorded five tackles in the win.

Corona Santiago def. Corona, 38-3
An offensive line, led by UCLA commit Isaiah Folasa, helped the Sharks offense rush for 295 yards in a rout of Corona.  Drew James, Jordon's younger brother, had six tackles in the loss.

Vista Murrieta def. Temecula Valley, 41-9
Southern California's top 2013 prospect, Su'a Cravens, who has a UCLA offer, had seven tackles and three sacks in the blowout win. Senior linebacker Jeremy Castro, an Oregon commit UCLA is trying with, had seven tackles and a sack.

La Habra def. Fullerton, 49-10
UCLA commit Aaron Porter had a monster game, with 11 tackles, five for loss, a forced fumble, an interception and a sack in less than a half of play.

Bakersfield Ridgeview def. Bakersfield South, 47-21
Ridgeview stayed unbeaten behind UCLA commit Shannon Edwards, who's caught three passes for 135 yards and a touchdown and also returned a touchdown in the win.

Diablo Valley def. De Anza, 35-20
With UCLA commit Morgan Breslin leading the way, Diablo Valley bounced back from a loss to beat De Anza.  Breslin had six tackles, 3.5 for loss and two sacks in the win.

Kona (Hawaii) Kealakehe def. Kea'au, 13-12
UCLA verbal Psalm Wooching scored the winning touchdown with six minutes left, a six-yard plunge, to keep Kealakehe undefeated.

Euless Trinity def. Grapevine, 38-0
With UCLA defensive line coach Inoke Breckterfield in the house, Bruin commit Hiva Lutui and his fellow Trinity lineman opened the holes for 380 yards rushing and new UCLA commit Laiu Moeakiola helped Trinity pitch a shutout.

Other UCLA Commits in Action
Fresno Bullard and Bruin pledge Ian Taubler defeated Madera, 21-14.  Spring Valley Steele Canyon and UCLA commit Mario Yakoo topped Valhalla, 17-14.  Kona (Hawaii) Kealakehe and running back Psalm Wooching play Kea'au.  Bear (Dele.) Red Lion Christian defensive end Eli Ankou beat Penn Grove (N.J.), 21-14.  Euless Trinity and UCLA verbal Hiva Lutui meet Grapevine in a homecoming contest.  Alemany and UCLA commit Jerico Richardson have a bye.  Honolulu Punahou and UCLA commit Steven Lakalaka and recruit Ka'imi Fairbairn have a bye.
