Taubler Keeping Close Watch

The Fresno (Calif.) Bullard tight end and UCLA commit Ian Taubler is keeping an eye on coaching search...

Fresno (Calif.) Bullard tight end Ian Taubler (6-5, 245), has been a commit to UCLA since June, but like many of the Bruins' commits, the firing of Rick Neuheisel as UCLA's head coach has cause Taubler to take a long look at all of his options.

In the past week, Taubler has had an in-home with Washington assistant coach Jeff Mills and had USC assistant Clay Helton come by his school.

Taubler had an offer from USC before he committed to UCLA and Washington offered him this season.

"Ian is still committed to UCLA but he's going to take some official visits," said his father, Brian.

Taubler was supposed to visit UCLA this month with several other commits, but that will take place in January.

"He's going to visit UCLA in January after they hire their new coach," said his father.

Taubler is watching closely what UCLA is doing with their new coaching hire.

"He really liked Coach Neuheisel but he's also eager to see who they hire," said Brian Taubler.

Taubler will take a trip to Washington next weekend and USC next month as well.

"He'll visit Washington and USC along with his visit to UCLA," said Taubler.

Taubler also plays defensive end and has given some thought to playing on that side of the ball in college.

"Ian's heart is at tight end though," said his father.

Colorado and Nevada also have recently offered.

This weekend, Taubler and Bullard will take on Bakersfield for the CIF-Central Section D-I title.
