Scouting and Video: Dashon Hunt

Westlake's Dashon Hunt, who is verbally committed to UCLA, helped propel his team to a CIF-SS Championship with a five-touchdown performance, including an interception for a pick-six. See him in action in this presentation by Fox Sports...

Dashon Hunt is a member of the Class of 2013 at Westlake High School in Westlake Village, Calif. As a sophomore Hunt remembers the sting of losing the CIF-SS Championship to Oaks Christian all too well.

Hunt did his part to make sure there was not a repeat performance in 2011 as he scored five touchdowns including an interception return that got the Warriors on the board for the first time.

A running back and cornerback, Hunt isn't blessed with great size at a listed 5'9/175, but he is blessed with outstanding acceleration, balance, and vision. Whether he is making a cut and pulling away from traffic or making a break on a ball in the air, Hunt plays faster than anyone around him. Despite his size, he is extremely physical and supports the run well from his cornerback position.

Hunt reminds me a lot of former Georgia Bulldog and current Minnesota Viking Asher Allen who was a terrific athlete who played bigger than his height and weight might dictate. Like Hunt, Allen also played running back and corner in high school before finding a permanent home on the defensive side of the ball on the next levels.

Hunt committed to UCLA before his junior year had even started, and he has maintained that he wants to stick with the Bruins despite the coaching change. For all of the talk about Jim Mora's impact on the Class of 2012 over the course of the next six weeks before Signing Day, Hunt could be his most important recruit that's currently committed to the Bruins.
