Illinois DB Prospect Bobby Buchanan

The younger brother of an NFL cornerback, Illinois cornerback prospect Bobby Buchanan is getting recruited seriously by many midwest schools -- and one west coast school. He's been offered by some and is wating on offers from others...

Another recruit in the class of 2004 with strong bloodlines is Joliet (Ill.) Catholic Academy cornerback prospect Bobby Buchanan, 6-0, 180.

The younger brother of Atlanta Falcons CB Ray Buchanan, Bobby is another cornerback in the family, and has five scholarship offers to date, including one from his brother's alma mater. "I have offers from Louisville (where Ray played), Ball State, Indiana, Northern Illinois and Illinois. I'm also hearing from UCLA, Iowa, Tennessee, Syracuse and Nebraska."

Meanwhile, his top four includes a pair of schools who have offered and a pair that he is waiting to offer him. "My top four are UCLA, Illinois, Louisville and Iowa."

One of the state's top runners, Buchanan is a speedy cornerback, but also plays a little wide receiver and running back for his high school team. However, he concedes that his future is probably in the secondary. "I think cornerback is where I am going to end up. I can use my speed to stay with guys and cover them."

Being in the Midwest, it is interesting that UCLA is recruiting him, but he is excited about the Bruins being in the hunt. "I've always liked watching UCLA. Coach Dorrell sends me a lot of handwritten letters and I like him a lot."

At the same time, Buchanan said he's getting recruited with some angles from other schools. "Louisville wants me to go there like Ray did, while Illinois wants me to stay in state."

Buchanan has a 2.0 GPA and will take the SAT in September.
