Keating Hired, Staff Complete

Kerry Keating, one of the best young recruiters in college basketball who has been at Tennessee for the last several years, was named as the final UCLA assistant coach, completing the new UCLA basketball coaching staff...

UCLA Head Coach Ben Howland completed his coaching staff today, hiring Tennessee assistant Kerry Keating.

Keating, who has coached under Tennessee's head coach Buzz Peterson for six years at Tennessee, Tulsa and Appalachian State, brings with him a reputation in college basketball as a tireless recruiter.

Last year, he was mainly responsible for recruiting SEC assist leader, freshman C.J Watson, out of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Keating not only is known for being an obsessive recruiting junkie but is a very good evaluator of talent.

Keating is a great addition to Howland's staff, which already includes Donny Daniels and Ernie Zeigler.

"Kerry brings a range of knowledge and contacts to UCLA and a known energy that has helped him develop a reputation as a tireless recruiter," Howland said.
