USAAAB: Shaq Speaks

The five-star safety from Sacramento (Calif.) Grant, Shaquille Thompson, plans to announce this weekend where he'll play in college...

Sacramento (Calif.) Grant safety Shaquille Thompson watched as two of his teammates made it to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl last year in Viliami Moala and James Sample.

So Thompson is relishing the opportunity to be in San Antonio himself this year.

"It's a great opportunity and something I strived for and I'm making the most out of it," said Thompson. "It's a dream come true."

Now Thompson will get to achieve another dream, the one of playing college football, when he announces his decision on Saturday.

The five-star said that a number of schools were still in it for him.

"My top three was Cal, USC and Notre Dame, but fans weren't taking me seriously on USC, so its like Cal, Notre Dame and Washington. Arizona State is out because all the coaches are out. And I still like UCLA too."

Thompson said even with his plans to announce this weekend, he'll take an unofficial visit in-state, since he's done all five trips.

"I'm announcing on Saturday, but I'm still going to take an unofficial visit to UCLA the week after I get back," said Thompson.

And after he makes his decision, Thompson said he'll be finished with recruiting.

"I'll shut things down for good," said Thompson. "I'll talk with my mom when she gets down here and I'll be ready to announce."
