UCLA's Official Weekend Visitors

UCLA conducts its first of three big recruiting weekends in January. Here are the recruits we have learned are visiting UCLA officially this weekend...

UCLA will have its first of three big recruiting weekends starting January 5th-7th.

The Bruins will bring in about 9 recruits this weekend, possibly 14-17 next weekend, and then another 9-11 or so the weekend of the 21st-23rd.

UCLA Head Coach Jim Mora intended to have his coaching staff in place going into this weekend. He said last week he anticipated the staff would be complete this week, but no announcement has come from UCLA as of Wednesday. We know there are some details with the staff to still work out, and you can go here to see where the coaching staff currently stands as of Thursday morning.

You can probably expect UCLA at least to announce the majority of the staff before the weekend.

Here are the recruits we've heard will be visiting UCLA this weekend:

Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick, TE, Rocklin (Calif.) Whitney. Verbal to USC. UCLA reportedly has a very good chance with Cope-Fitzpatrick. He's always liked UCLA but had some concerns about the previous coaching staff. UCLA coach Angus McClure has been a steady recruiting force with the nation's #4-ranked tight end and the Bruins have a good chance to steal him away from the Trojans.

Colby Cyburt, OL, Mission Viejo. UCLA is where Cyburt wants to go, and now that the staff, particularly OL coach Adrian Klemm, is in place, the Bruins are going to be tough to beat. We have a story coming on Cyburt later today.

Paul Perkins, RB/DB, Chandler (Ariz.) High. Verbal to UCLA. He's one of the guys who committed to the previous staff that the new staff wants to keep because of his quickness and versatility.

Mario Yakoo, OL, Spring Valley (Calif.) Steele Canyon. Verbal to UCLA. Another the staff wants to retain, but Yahoo might have to do some work academically.

Eli Ankou, DE, Bear (Del.) Red Lion Academy. Verbal to UCLA. Both UCLA and Ankou are sticking to commitment.

Christian Powell, FB/DT, Upland. Just recently offered by UCLA, it's believed the Bruins have an advantage over Washington, Texas A&M and Nebraska.

Caleb Smith, TE, Kent (Wash.) Kentridge. Verbal to Oregon State. He's considering other schools and UCLA has continued to recruit him.

Fabian Moreau, RB, Davie (Fla.) Western. Wake Forest, Northwestern, Kansas State and Boston College are some others that have offered.

Carl Hulick, OL, Anaheim Esperanza. Verbal to SMU. The center/guard prospect has maintained interest in UCLA and now it's picked up with the coaching change. Hulick, of course, is a favorite recruit of Klemm's, having gotten him to commit to SMU.
