Orjioke is Playing Linebacker

Marietta (Ga.) Lassiter athlete Kenny Orjioke took an official visit to UCLA this weekend, and came out of it knowing what position the coaches have in mind for him in the fall...

Marietta (Ga.) Lassiter athlete Kenny Orjioke was all set to come in to UCLA as a safety, but after taking his official visit to Westwood this past weekend, he‘s got a new set of marching orders.

"Originally, they were thinking of bringing me in as a safety, but on the visit they were saying they might want me to get a little bigger to play linebacker," Orjioke said. "So I‘m going to work on that."

Jim Mora has mentioned that he‘d like to be able to switch between a 3-4 and 4-3 defense without changing personnel, and it sounds as if he envisions Orjioke as a fit in that sort of system.

"He said he wants to play me as an outside linebacker, and get me to come off the edge at times," Orjioke said. "And that definitely sounds exciting."

Orjioke was joined on his official by Eddie Printz, a class of 2013 quarterback prospect who was in on an unofficial visit. While Printz did commit to the Bruins after the weekend, Orjioke actually spent most of his time working on another potential recruit.

"I was doing a lot of recruiting this weekend," Orjioke said. "I was trying to get a few guys to commit. I probably spent the most time trying to get Devin Fuller to commit. He‘s a cool kid."

As for his own trip, Orjioke said that the highlight for him was talking to the coaches and touring the campus and facilities.

"It was great," Orjioke said. "I had a really good time. We toured the facilities, checked out the campus, went down to the Rose Bowl.

"I probably spent the most time talking with Coach Mora, out of the coaches. He‘s a really personable guy, and I‘m looking forward to playing for him."

The three star prospect is committed to UCLA, but did not rule out the possibility of taking more visits.

"I'm not sure whether or not I‘m going to be taking any more visits," Orjioke said. "I'll have to look and see. But I'm really solid to UCLA."
