Treggs Talks UCLA Trip

The five-star receiver and Cal commit, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco's Bryce Treggs talks about his official visit to UCLA and his upcoming week...

Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco receiver Bryce Treggs took his fourth official visit this weekend, to UCLA, and he'll set up a busy stretch run that includes an official visit to USC and one final unofficial visit to California, where he's been committed to since July.

For Treggs, the trip to Westwood reunited him with new Bruins' receivers coach Eric Yarber, who gave Treggs the first offer he'd ever receive, a verbal offer when he finished his freshman year and Yarber was still at Arizona State.

"The visit went real good and I was reunited with Coach Yarbs," said Treggs. "He was the first one who ever offered me, but he didn't really bring that up. He just told me he really wanted me to play for him now that he's at UCLA."

Treggs was hosted by quarterback Brett Hundley, who redshirted this season.

"Brett was my host and he definitely was telling me how he'd love to throw me the ball for the next four years," said Treggs.

Treggs also visited with several of his 7on7 teammates from the summer, including UCLA commit Ishmael Adams.

"Ishmael and Justin Combs were working on me all weekend too," said Treggs.

Treggs had taken many unofficial visits to UCLA before, but said this one allowed him the opportunity to meet the new coaching staff.

"I had met Coach (Noel) Mazzone when he was at Arizona State, but I got a chance to meet with him on this trip," said Treggs. "And I also got to talk with Coach (Jim) Mora and he's a good guy and I think he's going to do great there."

Treggs will now take two more trips this week, one officially and one unofficially.

"I'm going to USC on Thursday for my last official visit, until Friday, and then I'm going up to Cal for an unofficial visit next weekend," said Treggs.

Treggs said he remains committed to Cal, but the week that saw Tosh Lupoi and Eric Keisau leave for Washington had thrown him for a loop.

"It was a pretty crazy week, but I'm still committed to Cal," said Treggs. "I've remained calm though."

On Sunday afternoon, new receivers coach Wes Chandler and running backs coach Ron Gould, who's been recruiting Treggs, will be in his house for an in-home visit.

"I talked to Coach Chandler and he seems like a good guy, so I'm looking forward to meeting him today," said Treggs.

Treggs said he'll finalize his decision after next weekend.

"I'll still make my final decision by the night before Signing Day," said Treggs.
