Allen Takes it To Another Level

Dakarai Allen, who has always been one of the top 2013 prospecs in the, west has earned some new scholarship offers...

Dakarai Allen, 6-4 JR SG/SF Sacramento (Calif.) Sheldon, is one of the elite prospects in the West Coast class of 2013. A terrific athlete, Allen is an exceptional defender with a very good feel for the game. He's a very versatile prospect, with the ability to impact the game in a number of ways.

In his junior season, Allen has been putting up big numbers, and recently scored 42 points and hit five threes in a game. Allen has always been one of the elite prospects in the west for 2013, but those kind of recent performances have made many more college programs take notice.

I spoke with Allen recently and asked about the schools that have been recruiting him.

"I have offers from Colorado, USC, San Diego State, Oregon State, San Francisco and Arizona State," said Allen. "I'm hearing form UCLA, Stanford, Arizona, Cal, Marquette and LSU."

Allen has taken unofficial visits to Cal Poly and Pepperdine. I asked him if he has any plans to take more unofficial visits.

"No, my Dad said he wants me to wait to see which schools offer," said Allen. "Then when we know which schools are offering I'll take some official visits."

I asked Allen what he is looking for in a school.

"I want to play as a freshman and be surrounded by good talent," said Allen. "I want to go someplace that has a chance to win big. The location doesn't really matter."

I asked Allen if he has a time frame in mind for picking a school.

"I want to see which offers I get," said Allen. "Once I know which schools are offering, then the decision will come soon."

Allen said he has a 3.2 GPA.
