Without an offer before the day started, Walker had an offer from two schools by the time the day concluded, including one from the Sugar Bowl Champions.
"My coach called me in and had a voicemail from Michigan," said Walker. "A coach from Michigan left him a voicemail and said they were offering me a scholarship. After I heard ‘Michigan' and ‘offering', everything went blank and I kind of stopped listening because I was in so much shock. It came out of nowhere. I can't explain how excited I was."
Walker said he was anticipating an offer coming but didn't expect it to come from a Big Ten school.
"Honestly, I thought it would be like UCLA or Cal or someone closer first," said Walker. "I hadn't really been hearing from them. But I'm definitely really interested in Michigan now."
With Brady Hoke now at Michigan, the Wolverines are hitting the West Coast as hard as they have in years, something Hoke got plenty of practice with when he was San Diego State.
In fact, it was the Aztecs who followed up the Wolverines with an offer themselves.
"San Diego State offered me (Wednesday) night," said Walker.
And Walker thinks this is just the start of more offers.
"I've been hearing from all kinds of schools," said Walker. "Schools like UCLA, Virginia, Iowa State, Miami, Notre Dame, Oregon, Stanford, Boise State, Tennessee, Missouri, Penn, Alabama, Michigan State, USC, Northwestern."
Boise State is a school of great interest to Walker, as his good friend and teammate, Chaz Anderson, signed with the Broncos earlier this month and another former Cubs defensive back, Lee Hightower, played as a freshman there this past season.
Walker said that each school is recruiting him as a cornerback.
"It's all coming as a corner, that's what everyone is telling me," said Walker. "No running back really."
Last weekend, Walker attended USC's Junior Day and enjoyed his time there.
"I liked SC's Junior Day a lot," said Walker. "I got a chance to see how the team works and everything and meet with the coaches. It was pretty cool."
Last fall, Walker had 43 tackles, seven pass breakups, 2.5 sacks and two interceptions, teaming opposite Anderson.
