"The visits were great, both schools had great traditions, and the atmospheres were great," said Lawson. "I loved the coaches there at each school."
Lawson said he wanted to get a sneak peek at what the process is like.
"At this point, my plan is more or less a chance to get a head start on the process and make bonds with the people at the schools," said Lawson.
While at USC, Lawson spoke with a handful of coaches.
"I talked with Coach (Clay) Helton at USC, probably with him more than anyone," said Lawson. "And I talked to Coach (Lane) Kiffin for a little bit."
At UCLA, he spoke with assistant coach Angus McClure.
"We talked with Coach McClure for a while and we got to walk around and check out the campus," said Lawson.
"When we got to meet Tebow, that was kind of nerve racking but was really exciting," said Lawson. "But it was overwhelming."
While Lawson knows it's early, he said a handful of schools are already showing interest in him.
Lawson said he plans to participate in the Bay Area Elite 11 and Nike Football Training Camps as well as some 7on7 tournaments this spring and summer.
