Good Day in L.A. for Byrd

The Fresno (Calif.) Central safety, Hatari Byrd, talks about his third Junior Day in as many weekends...

Fresno (Calif.) Central safety Hatari Byrd took in UCLA's Junior Day with a couple of his Central teammates.

And like his teammates, L.J. Moore and Johnny Johnson did, Byrd raved about his day in Westwood.

"It was great there," said Byrd. "I loved it. I loved everything about the campus. The campus was beautiful."

Byrd spent a lot of time with Bruin secondary coach Demetrice Martin and chatted with new coach Jim Mora.

"Coach Mora and Coach Meat (Martin) were the main ones talking to me," said Byrd. "But all of the coaches were talking to me throughout Junior Day."

Byrd said the time with Mora and Martin was good for him.

"They were good to me and they showed me a lot of interest and they showed it the whole time, which was good," said Byrd.

After visiting Cal last weekend for the Bears' Junior Day and USC the weekend before, Byrd said he had a good gauge on the in-state programs.

And UCLA is in good company.

"UCLA is in my top five for sure," said Byrd. "It's Notre Dame, UCLA, Cal, Washington and Houston."
