Ross: "Could Be the Place for Me"

Long Beach Jordan (Calif.) wide out John Ross attended UCLA's Junior Day on Sunday and the Bruins are in a good position with one of the most explosive players in the state...

John Ross is a two-way standout but prefers the offensive side of the ball and that's where the Bruins are recruiting him.

"Overall, I had a great experience," Ross said. "I really like the coaching staff at UCLA and they seem like they're about what they say. By that I mean they're talking about changing the culture at UCLA and you can believe them because they seem like very trustworthy, high character guys.

"I really liked Coach Mora a lot. He seems like a great guy and someone I could go to about anything, not just football. He has a powerful presence about him and he's bringing some toughness to UCLA, not just physically but mentally as well. He's a very influential person and I think he's going to make a huge impact at UCLA."

Rosss said he also enjoyed meeting new wide receiver coach Eric Yarber.

"From what I hear, he's a great coach and I was very comfortable with him," Ross said. "He has a great reputation and an NFL background so that's exciting. I also talked with Steve Broussard, who recruits my area. He's a great guy too and seems like the kind of coach that everyone will want to play for.

"I loved the campus there, it's quiet but there's a lot to do. Overall, I would say it was better than I expected and after today, I have a lot of confidence that UCLA could be the place for me. I can definitely visualize myself there and they're very high on my list."

Ross said he would like to visit a few more schools before ending the recruiting process.

"I want to see some other schools to compare with UCLA," Ross said. "I don't just want to commit to the first school that I'm comfortable with. You never know, the last school you visit could be the best one for you.

"I want to check out Cincinnati, Ca, Arizona State, Washington and Arizona. Some of those could be unofficial visits but the Cincinnati visit will have to be an official one obviously since it's so far away."
