Davis was named a five-star running back by Scout.com on Wednesday and also landed an offer that he'd been hoping for.
"Notre Dame offered me and that was a nice one to get," said Davis. "It's pretty exciting because it's a really good school."
Davis had been in contact with Irish assistant coach Mike Denbrock and felt an offer wasn't far off when the two finally got a chance to talk on the phone.
"Coach Denbrock had been wanting to talk to me for about a week and a half and we finally talked so it was good. He was the one who offered me," said Davis.
The offer from the Irish joins a host of offers, which includes Arizona State, Boise State, California, Florida State, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Oregon State, UCLA, USC, Utah, Washington and Washington State.
And a couple more could be close.
Davis plans to hit a number of schools up during the spring unofficially.
"I'm probably going to take unofficials to Cal, Stanford, Washington, UCLA and USC this spring," said Davis.
Davis said that USC, Cal and Oklahoma had been recruiting him the hardest, but he was hesitant to name a leader. However, one school has impressed him the most.
"I really can't say any true favorites but I can say that USC has made the biggest impression so far," said Davis.
Aside from the offer from Notre Dame, Davis was thrilled and humbled to be ranked #3 nationally and a five-star.
"It really does mean a lot because a year ago I would have never thought all this stuff would happen to me, so I was pretty excited about the ratings and it's also a good feeling to see hard work pay off," said Davis.
