Poly Safety Names Top Five

Long Beach Poly (Calif.) is one of the legendary programs not just locally but nationally. They'll have another strong 2013 class and defensive back David Price looks like the schools top prospect at this time...

David Price has been one of the state's top safety prospects since his sophomore year. He's a big hitter and showed off above average cover skills for a safety as well at the recent Gridiron Football Academy 7on 7 tournament where he was named defensive co-MVP.

"Right now, I still have the offer from SMU," Price said. "I heard UCLA is close to offering too but I haven't checked in with them in a while so I'll probably call them next week to see what's up.

"I'm starting to get letters from Yale, Penn, Air Force, Washington and Colorado. I'm still getting the usual mail from everyone in the Pac 12 plus schools like Georgia, UNLV, San Diego State, Iowa, Vanderbilt, Illinois, North Carolina, Texas and Texas A&M."

As good as Price is, it's surprising he's still sitting on just one offer. The athlete is hopeful more offers will come in as his tape gets out.

"I just finished putting my junior tape together last week," Price said. "I'm going to send that out and hopefully that will get things rolling for me. I plan to be pretty active on the camp circuit and want to check out a lot of schools, all over the country.

"I'm going to try and camp with Miami, Georgia, SDSU, Washington, Cal and maybe Texas. I'm also going to do the local camps at USC and UCLA. Right now, my top five is UCLA, Oregon, USC, Cal and Miami. I'm going to try and take some official visits in the fall and then I'll make my decision after our season."
