No Rush For Newby

The West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade running back, Terrell Newby, isn't in any rush to make a decision...

West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade running back Terrell Newby (5-10, 185), has a handful of offers and is hoping that a few more schools join the fray.

"My offers are from Oregon State, Colorado, Utah, Arizona State, Washington State and Nebraska," said Newby.

And the in-state schools are also showing a lot of interest in him.

The Southland native said that the UCLA and USC coaches have been in regular contact with him as well as Cal.

"I'll be going to USC's camp during the summer and I'm going to one of their spring practices," said Newby. "UCLA's running back coach, Coach (Steve) Broussard, wants me to come to their camp and their spring practices as well and I went to their Junior Day. I also went to Cal's Junior Day and had a good time there too."

Next month, Newby is heading to Colorado and Oregon to take unofficial visits.

"On April 14th, I'm headed to Colorado and I'm also going to Oregon some time next month," said Newby.

Aside from Nebraska, most of Newby's attention has come from the Pac-12.

"But I've been receiving letters from Tennessee too and that's really the only school besides Nebraska that's not from the Pac-12 that I've heard from," said Newby.

Newby said he plans to take as much time as needed and doesn't have a leader.

"I'm still probably wide open because my top schools fluctuate," said Newby. "My decision will be made after all my visits. And colleges are not really sure what a commitment is any more so I understand, that when I make a decision, it's final."

Newby will be at the Nike Camp in Los Angeles next month and plans to camp at USC and UCLA.

Academically, Newby has a 3.0 and took the SAT earlier this month.
