Update on Anthony Vernaglia

Just a couple of weeks removed from UCLA Junior Day where he was leaning toward UCLA, Orange Lutheran wide receiver Anthony Vernaglia just received another big offer, and his outlook has changed some...

The recruitment of Orange (Calif.) Orange Lutheran's Anthony Vernaglia, 6-3, 216, is still going at breakneck speed, and he recently added another top-flight program to his offer list.

"Notre Dame offered me last Tuesday, which was pretty cool. I am going out there next week (June 26) to check out the school for an unofficial visit," said Vernaglia.

The Irish aren't the only recent offer he has received, having also received an offer from Arizona. But Notre Dame is definitely an offer that impacts his favorites list. "The five I am pretty much looking at are Notre Dame, Virginia, USC, UCLA and Penn State," he said.

While there has been some discussion about him possibly playing tight end in college, Vernaglia still prefers to play a little farther out. "I want to play wide receiver. Notre Dame is also recruiting me to play defense, but the rest are talking to me about receiver."

Vernaglia visited Westwood for UCLA's spring game as well as recently for UCLA's Junior Day, and came away impressed. "Coach Kerr is the one recruiting me and he is a good guy. Coach Dorrell also had a lot of good things to say there. I had a real good time at Junior Day."

Vernaglia is fully qualified with a 4.01 GPA and a 1200 SAT score. He is still planning on making his decision before the season starts.
