Harwell Talks After Junior Day

One of UCLA's most coveted recruits is Los Altos defensive end prospect Brigham Harwell. Harwell attended UCLA's Junior Day and he has a glowing report about the Bruins...

With one Los Altos High product committed to UCLA ,the Bruins are hoping that another, defensive end Brigham Harwell (6-1, 254), accompanies Daniel Drayton to Westwood.

"Of course he is recruiting me to go there," Harwell said with a laugh. "Daniel is all over me, telling me to come with him there."

Already with 11 offers under his belt from UCLA, USC, Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona, Arizona State, Nebraska, Kansas State, Colorado, Oklahoma and San Diego State, Harwell still is pretty wide open, with not even a top 5, but generally spoke very well about UCLA.

In fact, it was hard to steer him away from talking about the Bruins.

He attended UCLA's Junior Day in May and had a glowing report. "I had a great, wonderful time. It was an awesome experience. The campus is beautiful. I just loved it."

He also spoke highly of the new facilities being built on UCLA's campus. "I know they are upgrading the facilities and it is going to look great. The campus is real nice and they are doing a good job with the facilities. It was real positive."

Primarily spending the day with assistant coach Eric Bieniemy at Junior Day, Harwell also got to spend some time with Head Coach Karl Dorrell. "I know Coach Dorrell is going to turn the program around. He has a great attitude in making the team better, and he is just a great coach, and someone good to talk to. I really like him."

While he has made a few unofficial visits to UCLA's campus, he definitely has plans to take an official trip when the season ends. "I'll probably take my visits, but I could decide sooner, I'm not sure. I do know I am visiting UCLA though."

For now, Harwell is focused on winning another CIF title, which he won last year, and setting the school sack record. "The record would be nice, but I really want to go back-to-back. We have training with our team this summer, getting in shape, and we want to be ready for the season."
